Position Summary:

Experience in wooden boat restoration is not necessary, but attention to detail, mechanical ability, a willingness to learn, and staying off your phone are must-haves. We do like to joke around, have fun, and listen to good music as we are working. At the same time, we are a busy shop with a lot of work to do. We take pride in our efficiency and doing things right the first time, without wasting time. You will be expected to hustle when circumstances require it. Every season is busy, but spring and fall are hectic and you will get plenty of exercise.

Duties will include sanding, varnishing, removing and reinstalling hardware, winterizing boats, finish woodwork, engine work, various mechanical work, 12 volt electrical work, helping to launch and retrieve boats, stripping old finish off, and picking up after yourself. It is OK if you do not end up excelling in all of these duties, but you will need to excel in most of them, the most important one being picking up after yourself.

Hours are 7:30-4, M-F with a one hour lunch break, 30 minutes of which are paid.

Draftsman with Marine Electrical Experience
GENERAL DUTIES:
This position designs and creates technical drawings for new vessel construction, utilizing the required computer programs noted below.
Candidate must have experience in Marine Electrical System design, be a team player, and have good communication skills.
COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must be proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word, Autocad, Rhino or Solidworks programs. Knowledge of Kubotek Key Creator is a plus.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Create 3-D CAD models and render into 2-D CAD drawings (including but not limited to):
o Mechanical systems
o Interior accommodation spaces
o Exterior arrangements
o Structure
• Revise drawings as needed to maintain as built records or resolve errors/omissions.
• Ability to articulate concepts with hand sketches for job site communication
• Create bill of materials of completed designs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written in order to effectively communicate with production and design staff.
• Assist in sea trials and commissioning as needed:
o Deadweight survey
o Vessel condition and performance
o Corrosion survey.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Design experience in Single and 3 phase AC design
• Familiarity with battery/charger systems/isolators/combiners
• Experience in 12V and 24V DC system design
• Familiarity with generators/shorepower/isolation transformers
• Ability to perform short circuit analysis as well as AC and DEC analyses in Excel
• Knowledge of USCG regs and COLREGS (navigation rules)
• Understanding of shipboard testing, such as Megger Testing
• Familiarity with boat corrosion prevention
• Ability to read and comprehend work specifications, blueprints, and technical publications.
