Choose to complete a Diploma or Associates Degree at The Landing School. We also offer a Second Year Program for those who wish to explore their field of study more independently. We encourage all students to read our academic policy.

ONE-YEAR DIPLOMA

A diploma program typically requires two academic semesters (8 months) to complete and does not require the student to take extra general education courses. A student who successfully completes a diploma program and meets all criteria for graduation is awarded a diploma in his or her specific program. Students will choose one of four programs to complete in eight months.

Second Year Program

The Second Year Program is designed for those students who would like to expand their education in a field of their choice. This is usually an independent, deeper dive into the field of study in which they received a diploma from The Landing School. It allows the student to enhance their education, hone the ability to communicate their knowledge to others, guide others in the development of tactile skills, and gain an additional depth of knowledge, experience, and skills through repetition of the program.

Project Focused

In this track, the student completes a specific project or achieves a specific goal, with learning objectives largely defined by the student in conjunction with faculty in that area of study. A project may be building, restoring, or designing a boat, or the student may focus on research, exploring new methods or materials. The student works with the faculty throughout the year to achieve learning objectives and to ensure it is a rewarding experience. Scholarships may be available for this program. 24 Credits

Program Assistant

For this track, a student returns as a Program Assistant to a program in which they have received a diploma. In this role they help the faculty in the day-to-day execution of the program, act as a mentor to first-year students, and may do some teaching in areas where they are particularly adept. This allows the returning student to expand their skills and knowledge in that concentration. Program Assistants also have time set aside for working on independent projects. Scholarships may be available as well as a stipend, depending on the level of administrative work.
