Job Description:
We are seeking a meticulous and hardworking Yacht Detailing and Maintenance Specialist to join our team. The Yacht Detailing and Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance of all vessels and the surrounding yard area and facility. This position involves detailed cleaning and polishing the exterior and interior of vessels, performing routine inspections and minor repairs, and assisting in the prepping of vessels for deliveries to the owners. The Yacht Detailing and Maintenance Specialist ensures yachts are in top condition for display, delivery, and that the facility is safe and efficient. This position can be physically demanding, and may require fitting into tight spaces.

Key Responsibilities:
• Clean and detail the interior and exterior of vessels, including washing, waxing, vacuuming, and polishing surfaces
• Removing dirt, grime, and stains from various surfaces, such as hulls, decks, cabins, and upholstery
• Inspect vessels for any damages or areas that require special attention, reporting these findings to your supervisor, and repairing damages as directed
• Use of specialized cleaning products and tools to achieve the best possible results
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility, including basic maintenance, painting of buildings and grounds and minor janitorial tasks as requested
• Ensure the facility is free of hazards and that equipment is properly stored and maintained
• Assist with the delivery and preparation of vessels for customers
• Communicate with customers and potential buyers regarding maintenance and detailing of the vessels
• Ensure accurate work order accounting by making timely entries into the time tracking and scheduling systems
• Perform additional tasks as assigned

Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in detailing vessels is preferred, but not required
• Excellent time management and organizational skills

• Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

Position Summary:

The Safe Harbor Savannah Yacht Center is a deep-water maintenance, repair and re-fit facility on the Savannah River in coastal Georgia, dedicated to servicing the mega-yacht industry. We are hiring a Project Engineer to support engineering and project management departments for shipyard operations and servicing of vessels. In this dynamic role, the candidate will be responsible for providing project management coordination to integrate the various departments to support work completion on multiple vessel’s during their shipyard maintenance period. Engineering support will be required for shipyard projects, facility upgrades, vessel refit/repairs, and dry docking.




Engineering duties will include but are not limited to estimates, proposals and drawings for repairs or fabrication projects, tracking change orders, vessel service reports, supporting skilled trades in completion of repairs and fabrication, dry docking calculations/docking plan drawings, structural evaluations, naval architectural calculations, facility upgrades, drawings and models as required. Project Management assistance to ensure that all projects run within scope, schedule, and budget constraints. Tracking of various departments tasks and status of work task completion.




The candidate will work in a supporting role where team members are responsible for estimating, coordinating, planning, managing, executing, and documenting all aspects of the vessel’s services are completed appropriately. The candidate will work with estimators, project management, engineering, skilled laborers, and upper management. Candidates should expect to routinely interface with customers, subcontractors, and support personnel. This role is ideal for an engineer with maritime experience in a fast-paced shipyard environment. Successful candidates will be capable of engineering, planning, organizing, scheduling, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• 2+ years engineering experience or practical knowledge of the project management discipline (through advanced education combined with experience).
• Experience/familiarity with the maritime industry, preferably experience with the yachting industry.
• Knowledge and experience with requirements, calculations and drawings for Classification Society and Flag review and approval.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds
Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair boat engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, masts, sails, and navigational equipment
Install and test sanitation and refrigeration systems, cabinetry, electrical systems, steering gear, and accessories
Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install vessel systems and components
Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including; acknowledging the budgeted time and time
frame for completion, proving the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required
Overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems
Troubleshoot, repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not limited to: electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing & water systems (fresh, salt, and waste), gas and diesel engines
Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets
Must possess own tools
Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
Other duties as assigned by Manager

 

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area. 
Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately. 




Technical and Physical Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Technical school training preferred
5 years’ experience preferred
ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications preferred
Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
Must carry own tools
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Basic boat handling skills preferred
Experience with both gas and diesel engines preferred
