The boat builder produces high quality work in composite and wooden new construction, restoration, and refit projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The boat builder is responsible for building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other items using different types of materials including wood and composite. Candidates will have experience in composite and wooden boat construction and/ or restoration.

- Working knowledge and experience of wood, fiberglass, and metal boat building
- Excellent understanding of carpentry technique, materials, and methods of installation and construction.

Minimum Education:

The Composite Technician will have a strong background in development manufacturing of aerospace grade composite structures. Applicants for this position should also have hands on experience in composite materials processing, mechanical aptitude, and a keen attention to detail. This job opening is in the field of composite R&D for extreme temperature aerospace applications.

Job responsibilities will include lamination, bagging and cure of composite laminates, furnace operation, tool prep and part detooling, part infiltrations and equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. Having a basic mechanical aptitude and the willingness and ability to learn on the job are equally important to experience in these job responsibilities. Ability to maintain and repair daily use equipment is a major bonus.



Basic Qualifications Include:



Hands on experience working with composite materials
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Hands on experience with common composite manufacturing methods
Flexibility to support multiple manufacturing development efforts
Experience working in aerospace or other highly regulated industry
Basic measurement techniques such as calipers, micrometers, Pi-tape and scales.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and lamination schedules
Ability to provide practical part development assistance to engineering
Basic machine shop/power tool experience



Highly Desired Candidates pose one (or more) of the following qualifications:



Experience working in aerospace or other highly regulated industry
Experience in Ceramic Matrix Composites (such as SiC/SiC, C/SiC, or C/C)
Experience in vacuum assisted resin transfer methods
Experience in Braiding, Automated fiber placement, Tape Wrapping, or Filament Winding
Experience in potting and polishing composite samples for photo micrographs
Experience with Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) processing
Interpreting Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE/NDT) results, such as, Ultrasonic, Infrared Thermography or Computer Tomography methods.
CAD experience, Solidworks
Familiarity with metrology techniques such as CMM or 3D scanning
Understands Lean Six Sigma methodology
Experience with high temperature atmospheric furnaces
