Position Summary:
Work in a fast-pace team environment while seeing ideas come to life. The Process Engineer is responsible for engineering related tasks in product development and product support for Freeman Boatworks brands with an emphasis on evaluation, analysis, coordination, and implementation from styling through production and customer service. This will include the use of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools to generate 3D surface models for liners, decks, and small parts. Strong emphasis on CNC and vertical integrations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Generate 3D surface models of decks, liners, and small parts to be utilized for 5-axis milling and tooling design
Complete engineering of assigned areas of a boat including fiberglass design, purchased parts and hardware development
Design, engineer, and validate complex hinges and mechanisms for supplier fabrication using 3D models and 2D specification drawings
Provide accurate material and component specification for the sourcing of new and replacement components
Work with suppliers on the development of new systems and components to ensure continuous improvement in the quality and value of our boats systems
Ensure that new designs and components meet the cost, performance, and functional requirements of the new and enhancement boat programs
Generate engineering drawings for new designs and approve all prints for boat release
Generate, review, and approve engineering change notices (ECNs) as required
Participate in manufacturing integration activities to ensure successful launches of new products and technologies as well as continuous improvement activities
Support manufacturing and customer service on issues resolution
Ensure that designs have been fully validated and that they meet necessary system specifications and performance requirements
Utilize warranty data to identify issues related to mechanical systems for mitigation purposes
Provide technical evaluations and reports on issues for customer service and field problems
Ensure compliance with all necessary industry, domestic, and international government regulations
Requirements:
Education/Training
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related discipline
Experience and Skills:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in FRP marine product design preferred with knowledge of production processes
Computer Aided Design experience required (Siemens NX preferred and/or experience with SolidWorks, Catia, Creo or Pro-E)
3D free-surface modelling skills required
Boating experience is desired
Lean Six Sigma certification or experience is a plus
Must interface well with other employee’s and departments throughout Freeman Boatworks as well as outside vendors and customers
Strong analytical skills, including expertise with spreadsheets
Excellent written and verbal skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills. Able to handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively. Strong attention to detail.

Position (2 of 4): Gel Coater

Position Summary:
Job Responsibilities:
Applies gel coat all parts of a boat utilizing engineering specifications.
Patches parts after gel coating, while controlling the amount of material used.
Maintains quality control in area.
Operates a forklift.
May be responsible for maintaining and testing gel coating equipment.
Ability to use small hand tools, both electrical and air powered.
Ability to lift objects weighing up to 45 pounds.
This position requires repetitive bending, stooping, kneeling, and shoulder/upper arm movements.

Position (3 of 4): Fiberglass Cutting Technician

Position Summary:

Freeman Boatworks, recognized around the world for quality, performance and comfort, is seeking a Fiberglas Cutting Technician to join our Freeman family. You will be responsible for 1) uploading correct files on the machines to cut kits for a build 2) Placing the correct materials in the correct boxes 3) Monitoring what kits we do have and what is needed to cut 4) Making sure correct materials are loaded onto machine.
Requirements:
Duties and Responsibilities
Handle materials appropriately and safely.
Set up or program the computer responsible for the machinery.
Follow safety requirements and maintain certifications.
Inspect the machinery for quality assurance.
Perform daily maintenance on the machinery.
Review blueprints and instructions.
Inspect components to ensure they meet specifications.
Maintain equipment and tools.

Keep work area and product clean and organized.
Be able to take work instructions from leaders.
Work well in a team.
Qualifications:
Previous CNC operator or Eastman machinery experience preferred.
Previous experience with engineering preferred.
Experience working with fiberglass or in auto body repair helpful.
Familiarity with mixing gel coats and/or paint with activators.
Good working knowledge of repair tools (sanders, buffers, spray equipment).
Detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines in a fast, paced environment.

Position Summary:
Freeman Boatworks, recognized around the world for quality, performance and comfort, is seeking a Mold Maintenance Technician to join our Freeman family. You will be responsible for assembling foam jigs, applying tooling gel, laminating, mold repairs, and welding on parts of all sizes.
Responsibilities:
Inspection of the parts to determine what repairs are needed
Repair surface defects in tooling gel (scratches, voids, surface distortion, etc.) typically requiring use of grinders, buffers, drills, or other specialty tools
Mixing and applying tooling gel and/or resins needed for repairs being sure to follow safety protocols and disposal guidelines
Spot spraying of tooling gel
Assembling of foam jigs
Apply tooling gel to foam jigs
Laminate multiple layers of fiberglass to desired thickness of mold specification
Weld and attach steel frame to new molds
Build and frame glass master parts from existing molds
Modify, repair, and finish existing glass masters
Qualifications:
Previous experience with gel coat and/or paint repairs preferred
Experience working with fiberglass or in auto body repair helpful
