Who We Are
The beginnings of the Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-Op go back about 40 years. We are a full service boatyard with a talented crew, well-known for our traditional woodworking skills, from fine interior joinery on sail and motor yachts to major structural restoration on commercial fishing vessels. We design and install marine electronics and navigation systems, engines, propulsion, fuel and drive, heating, cooling, plumbing, steering, refrigeration and hydraulics, spars and rigging on steel, aluminum, fiberglass and wooden vessels. PTSC also specializes in new construction. Our business model is based on having cooperative owners manage our current staff of 40 plus employees, ensuring that each job has its own team of experts. In 2021, Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-op acquired Carol Hasse’s sail loft, Port Townsend Sails.
What We Are Looking For
The Marine Mechanic is a valuable member of our experienced team of marine electricians, marine systems technicians and marine plumbers. You will work in our mechanic shop and on boats at our facility in the The Port Townsend Boatyard at the Port of Port Townsend. The length, scope and complexity of each project varies and you will get to work alongside other marine trades professionals such as shipwrights, riggers, and metal workers.
