About Us
The Marblehead Yacht Club (MYC) is Marblehead’s oldest continuously operating yacht club. We offer seasonal Launch Service to over 275 boating members from May through October using three club owned Crosby tug launches. In addition, MYC offers its members seasonal food service (through an independent operator) four days a week (Thursday through Sunday) from June through Labor Day utilizing our galley for dining on our outdoor deck and indoor dining room.
About the Opportunity
In this role, you will use your superior customer service skills to enhance members' boating and social experience with the Club and its staff. Reporting to the Club Commodore, Vice-Commodore, and Board of Director’s, you will manage the day-to-day operation of MYC, its Club House, Waterfront and oversee the food service contractor. You will use your knowledge of waterfront operations to successfully manage seasonal launch tender service (including maintenance), hire and manage staff, maintain compliance with the Town of Marblehead and the U.S. Coast Guard for launches, docks, and the waterfront. You will use your knowledge of facilities and property management to successfully manage and maintain the land and water-based facilities, property and equipment year-round.
More Details
· Manage full-cycle waterfront activities, hiring, firing and management of launch drivers and other staff. Drive launches when needed.
· Proactively manage and maintain all land and water-based facilities, food service contractor and equipment.
· Positively interact with Flag Officers, Board of Directors, Treasurer, Accounting, all members, Town of Marblehead personnel (Harbormaster, Harbor & Waters Board), Contractors, and Vendors/Suppliers.
· In Season: (May 1 – November 30): 48 hours per week, including being onsite during weekends from Opening Day until Labor Day.
· Off Season: (December 1 through April 30): 24 hours per week, including participation at monthly Board of Directors Meetings.
What You’ll Need
· Previous Yacht Club/Waterfront experience
· Marine/Boat mechanical experience (diesel engines, marine propulsion systems, electrical, fiberglass, woodwork)
· Facilities/property management experience (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting/varnishing)
· Management experience (hiring, firing, scheduling, payroll, positively managing people)
· Current U.S.C.G. Merchant Mariner Credential (Inland Masters or higher) and valid TWIC.
· Proactively manage all people/relationships related matters, as well as, service, property, facilities, equipment issues.
· Successfully work with a diverse membership and workforce, ability to shift gears quickly
· Ability to regularly lift 25-50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds
· Ability to lift, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, manual dexterity
· Proven customer service skills, ability to tactfully enforce club rules, build and maintain relationships with important constituencies.
· Previous computer (MS-Office, Accounting, Scheduling, Payroll, HR, Operations and web-based systems) and telephone experience
· Superior communication and organization skills
· Proven reliability
