Position Summary:

Classic Boat Restoration - Preservation, repair, maintenance and restoration of antique and classic wooden boats. All phases of restoration, including bottom replacements, structural repairs, engine repowers and systems replacements, strip and refinish brightwork, and interior rebuilds. We are preservation-minded with a focus on historical accuracy as the primary goal. Resto-mod work including custom seating, swim platforms, engine boxes, and other creative woodworking and systems solutions. Annual maintenance including varnish and paint touch-ups, hardware repairs and polishing, electrical troubleshooting, and all other general woodworking repairs.
Modern Yacht Woodworking - Yacht woodworking solutions for ocean-going vessels, including structural and bulkhead repairs, swim platform fabrications and repairs, custom wooden transom fabrications, cabinetry and built-in repairs, custom fabrication of interior/exterior components and furnishings, and all other interior/exterior woodworking and joinery.
Yacht Decking Solutions - We specialize in yacht decking and flooring solutions focused on the design and fabrication of hardwood teak decking, teak & holly plywood interior flooring, Permateek Marine Decking, and Amtico Marine interior flooring. We are the Northeast's only Permateek and Amtico distributors, working directly with private clients and yacht builders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to work independently and with the team, including outside subcontractors.
- Follow prescribed safety rules, regulations, and procedures in the shop, in the marinas, at the dock and on- board vessels.
- Maintain a clean work area that ensures safe work practices and supports a professional work environment with high-quality standards.
- Good understanding of marine plywood and hardwoods, proper selection and application, and their inherent strengths and weaknesses.
- Fundamental knowledge of marine industry woodworking joints: scarfs, tenons, dovetails, laps, etc., when and where they are required, and the effective uses of hand and power tools in their construction.
- Competent and accurate transfer of dimensions from plans, drawings and blueprints to construction materials using tape measures, squares, marking/layout devices, templates, patterns and jigs.
- Working knowledge of marine epoxies and adhesives: material preparation, proper mixing and application, bonding and bedding, joinery fabrication, basic fiberglass repairs, and safe cleanup and disposal.
- Full knowledge of the requirements for paint and varnish: surface sanding and preparation, taping and protection, sealing and staining, brush and roller application techniques, and common marine finish brands.
