Position Title: Service Technician
Compensation/Rate: Up to 47.25 Per Hour
Location: Friday Harbor, WA
Position Summary: Friday Harbor Marine has been providing a wide variety of marine services since 2008. We have a 4000 sq ft facility located in Friday Harbor where we operate a trailerable boat repair shop, parts store and boat sales lot. We also provide full maintenance services for boats in the water at all of the local marinas.
We are an Authorized Volvo Penta and Mercury Marine Dealer, providing installation, service, as well as servicing all other makes and models of outboards and inboards. We sell and service all types of marine systems, including navigation, electronics, AC and DC electrical systems, generators and inverters, control systems, water and sanitary systems, cooking and heating. We perform fiberglass repair, gelcoat repair, bottom painting and detailing.
Mechanical Aptitude – should have demonstrated interest and experience in mechanical and electrical systems. Ability to troubleshoot problems, develop solutions, install and test components.
Customer Service – must be able to communicate verbally and in written form with customers regarding service work to be performed, and work that has been completed.
Marine Repair – will install, maintain and repair gasoline and diesel engines, AC and DC marine electrical systems, electronics, control systems, fiberglass and metal fab and repair.
Technical Training – We offer free factory training thru Volvo Penta and Mercury Marine. Candidate Will be required to follow training program of online courses
Computer Use – must be familiar with use of computers for managing Work Orders, customer and vendor communications, technical research, parts ordering.
Travel – willing and able to travel to other locations to perform work, mostly on-island, but some off-island travel likely. Must have valid driver’s license and transportation.
Hours – This is a full time position, with additional hours available as seasonal workload increases. Standard work hours are from 8 to 4:30, and some overtime work will be required beyond those hours.
