Position Title: Marine Service Technician
Compensation/Rate: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour, based on experience
Location: Portland, ME
Position Summary:
DiMillo's Yacht Sales is a professional yacht dealership and brokerage firm with six locations from Maine to Maryland. With over 25 years in the industry, we represent new yachts from Sabre, Back Cove, MJM, and Tiara, alongside pre-owned yacht sales.
We are seeking skilled and dedicated Marine Service Technicians to join our team. The Marine Service Technician will be responsible for all aspects of commissioning and decommissioning boats, mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostics, general maintenance and repair, and the delivery of vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine technology, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Additionally, DYS is actively seeking technicians with solid experience working on Cummins, Volvo Penta, or Mercury marine engines.
Key Responsibilities
o Boat commissioning, including Installation, configuration, and testing of marine electronics and navigation system
o Boat decommissioning and winterization, including engine, generator, fresh water, air conditioning, electrical, and safety systems, along with hull, deck and interior maintenance
o Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with marine systems and components
o Perform maintenance and repairs on new and used vessels, including engines, electrical systems, and other equipment
o Accurate varnish application on both interior and exterior surfaces of vessels
o Inspect, maintain, and repair boat bottom systems, ensuring hull fittings and other underwater components
o Conduct sea trials and operational tests to ensure proper functioning of all systems
o Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed
o Provide technical support and advice to customers and other team members, while building those relationships
o Ensure accurate work order accounting by making timely entries into the time tracking and scheduling systems
o Stay up-to-date with advancements in marine technology and industry best practices
o Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
o Maintain a clean and organized work environment
o Perform additional tasks as assigned, including assisting in the cleaning, and detailing of vessels, as needed
