Position Title: PAINT & VARNISH TECHNICIAN—VAN DAM CUSTOM BOATS WORK FOR ONE OF THE WORLD’S PREMIER WOOD COMPOSITE BOAT BUILDERS
Compensation/Rate: $20-$27/hour
Location: Boyne City, ME
Position Summary:
THE POSITION: We’re looking for a year-round, full-time Paint & Varnish Technician to join our team. As a member of our team, you will be expected to be eager and ready to learn a variety of paint and varnish application and finishing techniques. We will accept applications from apprentice-level to highly qualified, experienced craftspeople.
TIMELINE: Applications due 8/28/24; Stage 1 screening calls will take place 9/3-9/6/24; Stage 2 working interviews will take place 9/9/24-9/13/24; Estimated start date is 9/30/24.
PAY: Starting pay range for the Paint & Varnish Technician position is $20-$27.

• Consistently perform high quality work in areas including, but not limited to:
o Cleaning and prepping parts for paint or varnish, including taping and masking
o Sanding parts in preparation for paint or varnish
o Disassembly and careful organization of parts for boats that we will be working on
o Reassembly of completed projects
o Application of multiple types of finishes, from brushed varnish or paint to sprayed finishes, like clear coat
o Assisting with cosmetic repairs
o Fiberglass work
o Buffing and polishing
o Assisting with cosmetic inspections and estimate generation
o Cleaning boats before deliveries
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Education: High School diploma
• Preferred skills and knowledge:
o Experience working around boats is a plus
o Strong time management skills with respect for deadlines
o Experience with refinishing work is preferred
