A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MARINE TECHNICIAN
As a Marine Technician, you keep our customers' boats running during the summer and perform routine maintenance during the off-season. Using your keen problem-solving skills, you diagnose issues and recommend repairs. When boats are brought in for service, you inspect their overall condition and report any safety concerns. Proactively, you look for value-adding services to keep them in top condition. You perform all repairs efficiently, safely, and thoroughly while keeping accurate documentation. Aside from working with your hands, you also enjoy interacting with your colleagues and customers. You ensure open communication and remain courteous and respectful in all interactions. Striving for 100% customer satisfaction, you clean as you work, perform quality checks on all your repairs, and answer any questions. You love getting your hands dirty and keeping our customers' boats in tip-top shape, enabling them to have a memorable summer!

We sell, service and store some of the most advanced tow boats and pleasure boats made. You would be helping our staff service MasterCraft surf boats, Boston Whaler center consoles, Chris Craft, Monterey and Bennington pontoon boats. These boats are powered by Volvo Penta and Mercury marine stern drives, Yamaha and Mercury outboards and Ilmor inboard engines. Yearly factory training is provided to all technicians to help you grow in your knowledge and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MARINE TECHNICIAN
High school diploma or equivalent
Mechanical and technical skills
Possess the needed hand tools
Valid driver's license
Good health and physical mobility
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Perform maintenance and repairs on wooden boats. Meet the desired goals and expectations of our customers as outlined in each corresponding work order, while staying within the confines of the labor and materials estimated budget.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain neat and clean service facilities & equipment.
Document all customer repair needs on a service repair order.
Enter tech hours worked on the correct Op-code for the job.
Make sure all paperwork is complete and processed for each work assignment.
Reach and exceed department and personal goals for accurate and efficient production.
Notify Wood Shop Manager of additional work requiring authorization.
Continually add suggestions for work improvement.
Good to Expert knowledge of the basic and advanced carpentry skills needed for wood boat restoration.
Good to Expert knowledge of materials; including being able to identify wood by type and knowledge of best application of each.
Good to Expert knowledge on safe and appropriate use of all power and hand tools in the Wood Shop.
General to Expert knowledge on the process of building new wood boats.
Good to Expert skills and knowledge of the materials and process of wood finishes and finish work; especially as related to marine applications.
Good to Expert knowledge of antique boat brands, types and construction techniques used to build them.
Be responsible for own work performance.
Maintain 0 comeback status.
Maintain 0 damage status.
Ability to implement effective and efficient work procedures.
Knowledge of customer boats.
Properly dispose and store hazard chemicals
Ensures all safety policy and procedures are strictly adhered to.
Completes "non-billable" work as requested by management. Management agrees to keep non-billable assignments to a minimum; however, when asked, technician agrees to accept the assignment and complete it with same care and diligence required on retail assignments.
Performs other related duties as requested by Wood Shop Manager.
Schedule Requirements and Physical Demands:
Able to work an average of 40-50 hours per week.
Able to work a variety of shifts, which include weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs. using proper safety procedures
Able to safely, responsibly and competently operate all vehicles and equipment related to production.
REQUIREMENTS
A high school diploma or equivalent
Professional appearance and positive attitude to all customers
Ability to communicate at a high level, both verbally and in writing
Organizational and computer skills are required for the position
Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and process driven
Have a valid state driver's license

Position Title (3 of 3): Fiberglass Technician

Compensation/Rate: $19.00- $25.00

Position Summary: Gage Marine in Delavan, WI is seeking to hire a full-time Fiberglass Technician to complete fiberglass work and repairs as well as provide supervision over our detail shop. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FIBERGLASS TECHNICIAN

As a Fiberglass Technician, you complete structural and cosmetic repairs to our customers' boats. After assessing damaged vessels, you assist with writing repair estimates. With great precision, you handle delicate materials and sensitive repairs. You mend and restore fiberglass and gel-coat damage as well as color match. To perform these repairs to boats and other technical equipment, you work with fiberglass, resins, epoxies, and other chemicals. Throughout the process, you operate hand and power tools including buffers, grinders, wet sanders, spray equipment, and rollers. As you work, you are always sure to keep safety in mind.

Although much of your time is spent working with your hands, you also have the opportunity to interact with our customers. You present completed repairs and prepare new boats for customer delivery. Customer satisfaction is important to you. Your exceptional work allows you to easily promote and acquire sales through referrals. You are essential to growing our business!

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience with fiberglass repair (doesn't have to be marine-related)
Valid state driver's license
Physically able to walk and stand on your feet 8 to 10 hours at a time and lift up to 100 lbs
Ability to wear a full face respirator
Ability to safely, responsibly, and competently operate all vehicles and equipment related to production
Basic computer skills
Availability to work a variety of shifts including weekends, nights, days, and holidays
Ability to pass a pre-employment background/drug screen
Customer service or sales-related background is preferred but not required. Do you present yourself professionally? Does your positive attitude shine through in all of your interactions? WORK SCHEDULE

Our Fiberglass Technicians work an average of 40-50 hours each week. The typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with some Saturdays during the busy season and overtime available.
