Position Title: Marine Rigger - Full Time
Compensation/Rate: $25.00 - $35.00/hr
Location: Harpswell, ME
Position Summary:
It's a great time to join the Safe Harbor Family!
Riggers possess and develop a broad range of technical skills including: splicing; sail tuning; rigging for crane lifts; metal working, welding and eventually crane operation. They possess and develop a thorough knowledge of working loads for lines, cables and blocks; as well as the mechanical maintenance and refurbishment of common sailing equipment such as winches, furlers masts, headsail furlers and windlasses. This broad set of skills allow the Riggers to take the lead on Yard projects involving sailboat rigging; anchoring; davits; cable steering systems; and removing / reinstalling hardware for mast and deck paint jobs.
The Rig Shop at Safe Harbor Great Island has greater capability then many yards. These capabilities include: weld repairs to masts; upgrades to Liesurefurl Booms; design and installation of sailing upgrades such as staysails and spinnaker sprit; and full mast replacements.
