Job Description

Complete installation, testing/troubleshooting, and maintenance/repair (as needed) of vessel electrical systems and related components.

  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical specifications, or verbal instructions to plan work.

  • Select wire sizes and related materials appropriately.

  • Install marine electrical (AC/DC) and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, fixtures, etc. according to specifications.

  • Inspect, test and troubleshoot electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment; perform required maintenance, modification, repair or replacement. Verify conformance with design specifications, company quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Cut or bore holes, install conduit/wire trays, strip/solder connections using hand/power tools.

  • Construct instrument panels according to specifications, using hand/power tools.

  • Collaborate with the Fabrication and Welding Departments to build mounts, brackets, foundations, components, wire trays, thru-hulls, etc. as needed.

  • Wear appropriate PPE and demonstrate safe marine manufacturing practices. Comply with safety standards required by the company and regulatory bodies.

  • Obtain and maintain proper workplace training and certifications, including tool use sign-offs.

  • Participate in regular/required Systems Department meetings.

  • Complete work within specified deadlines set by the Systems Supervisor.

  • Collaborate with other Production personnel.

  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Graduation from certified technical school or equivalent experience relevant to vessel electrical systems/equipment. Experience in boat-building preferred.

  • Familiarity with marine regulations (ABYC, USCG, etc.).

  • ABYC Marine Electrical Certification preferred. Additional certifications (e.g. Garmin, NMEA, etc.) will be considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory and the techniques and practices of installation, maintenance, repair and alteration of marine electrical and electro-mechanical systems.

  • Basic mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to repetitively lift, pull and push 50+ pounds, reach above head, stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach and grasp.

  • Must be 18 years of age and eligible to work in the US.
