The Position Summary:
Edson Marine manufactures marine steering systems, boating accessories, pumps, and pump systems and distributes these to OEM, industrial, commercial, government, and end user markets. This position is a hands-on leadership position where you will manage all engineering tasks at Edson.
You and a junior engineer will be responsible for new product development, product improvement (value engineering, product enhancements, performance improvements), custom steering system design, supporting our manufacturing group including a fabrication department, managing our engineering drawing database, and building BOMs within the ERP system. You will have the luxury of seeing your concepts turned into reality using our full machine and fabrication shop.
The successful candidate will have naval architecture, mechanical engineering, design for fabrication, and leadership experience.
Specific position responsibilities
• Design and engineer new and custom products
• Conceptualize, design, and engineer custom steering systems
• Value engineer and make design improvements to existing product lines
• Support machine and fabrication shops with engineering support where needed
• Manage the Edson drawing database
• Provide general engineering support to manufacturing
Candidate characteristics, skills, and experience
• Enthusiastic personality, high energy
• Marine engineering experience
• Value engineering experience
• Knowledge of various types of component manufacturing processes including casting, injection molding, stamping, and machining
• Composites engineering experience
• Expert user of Solid Works, experience with MicroStation
• High level of organization
• Knowledge of marine equipment certification systems (Lloyds, RINA, CE, etc)
• Marine industry and equipment knowledge
• Boating experience
• Small company background
