Position Title: Dockhand/Sailboat Technician
Compensation/Rate: $21
Location: Boston, MA
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled boatyard technician/dockhand to join our team. Community Boating Inc. is the largest and oldest non-profit sailing center in the country. With our mission statement "sailing for all" we strive to provide high quality water sports access to all members of the community. Located in the beautiful Charles River Basin in Boston, Massachusetts, we are just a 20-minute walk from the commuter rail and a 5-minute walk from the Charles/MGH Redline T stop. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing and maintaining our fleet of sailboats, powerboats, kayaks, windsurf boards, as well as maintaining the dock and building facilities.
Responsibilities include:
Repairing and maintaining a fleet of sailboats and powerboats
Maintaining dock and building facilities
Carpentry, painting, mechanical assembly, metal working, general grounds keeping
Receiving orders, cleaning and organizing
Fiberglass repairs, handling hazardous materials
Tracking repairs in maintenance ticket software
hauling and splashing vessels in respective seasons of November and April
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Vocational training a plus
Ability to take public transit; our location is non-vehicle accessible
Driver's license
Ability to stand and move on water from boat to boat
Ability to lift 25 pounds
Problem solving skills
Ability to work alone or in a group setting
Communication skills
Experience with Windows 10 and Google Suite
Marine and sailing experience
Rigging experience

Salary: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Schedule:
8 hour shift
Monday to Friday
