Position Title: Marine Electrician
About our Company and the position: Cay Electronics, Inc., located in Portsmouth, Rhode Island seeks a full-time, lead, marine electrician to install commission and service DC and AC electrical systems in recreational and small commercial vessels (power and sail).
The company office is located on Narragansett Bay near Newport, a location that provides an attractive work and recreation environment. The job involves projects in Rhode Island, throughout New England as well as, on occasion, overseas.
Cay Electronics was founded in 1982 in the British Virgin Islands; the Rhode Island operation has been open since 1990. We design, install and service electronic and electrical systems for builders and owners of boats from 25 to 100+ feet. In pursuit of the most elegant engineering and styling solutions we occasionally design and manufacture our own equipment.
You will be joining a close knit, friendly team of fellow troubleshooting and installation technicians as well as a terrific support staff providing sales, purchasing, shipping, scheduling and bookkeeping logistics. You will teach us a few things and we’ll teach you a few things.

Compensation/Rate: $25 - $35 per hour

Position requirements: The job will involve the installation and troubleshooting of battery systems, high and low current DC distribution circuits and equipment (including digital switching systems), equipment commissioning and software configuration. The position provides the opportunity to be involved in projects from the concept and design stage through to customer handover. Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills are important. Candidates should have several years of electrical experience in the marine environment. Certifications from ABYC and NMEA are a plus as is experience working with equipment from Mastervolt, Victron and Czone.
Responsibilities:
Read, follow and help develop electrical design drawings
Pull and terminate wires, mount and connect batteries, chargers, inverters, breakers and equipment
Commission equipment and configure software in networked Mastervolt, Victron and CZone systems
Troubleshoot electrical issues
Provide direction to installation technicians
Job Requirements include but not limited to:
Excellent understanding of electrical circuits and marine equipment
Knowledge of Lithium battery systems
Knowledge of distributed power systems
Able to work alone or in small groups
Ability to work in confined spaces
