Job Title: Junior Naval Architect/Marine Engineer Department: New Product Engineering
Reports To: Director of New Product Development/Principal Naval Architect
FLSA Status: Salary

Summary This position will perform naval architecture duties and responsibilities to support
product engineering and manufacturing for Malibu Boats, Axis Wake, Cobalt Boats and Pursuit Boats.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and execute to detailed plans, budget estimates and timelines for projects
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models, schematics and system layouts for both new and existing
product where necessary to support the development efforts.
• Prepare cost estimates, design specifications and construction schedules for projects.
• Develop and perform operational or performance tests on new or existing product.
• Prepare technical reports for use by engineers, management team or sales personnel.
• Develop 2D & 3D concept hull designs with performance predictions, weight & stability
analysis; material selection and structural design; design compliance for USCG, ABYC, and CE
• Prepare submissions of applications for USCG, ABYC and CE.
• Work with teams from a variety of specialties to oversee construction and testing of
prototypes while keeping projects on time and budget.
• Evaluate how products perform during testing and change designs as needed to meet the goals
and standards required for the project.
• Works daily with multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate the development and implementation of
new product and processes
• Regularly Investigates system/product weaknesses to continuously improve and prevent further
issues
• Work with outside vendors/suppliers to provide feedback for product design, areas of
improvement, and testing results
• Work daily to solve complex problems and determine best path, with a strong grasp of root
cause analysis
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience
BS Naval Architecture, or related degree from ABET accredited University preferred Experience in
small craft navel architecture
Experience in 3D solid modeling, Rhino, SolidWorks or NX preferred Understanding of production FRP
structures and design details

Language Skills
English required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals,
professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write
reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present
information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general
public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations,
and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency
distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation
techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to
interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal
with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Qualifications
CPM, PE, or other professional certifications a plus
