Position Title: Composites Engineer

Job Description: Summary
Regal Marine Industries, Inc. located in sunny Orlando, FL is seeking a Composites Engineer experienced with Fiberglass. The Composites Engineer is directly responsible for both structural and cosmetic fiberglass components, all subsequent testing, defining the specifications for all composite materials on new products, and leads Regal’s long-term composite plan.
Immediate Goals for this Position
• Work with manufacturing leaders to develop processes and lamination schedules to reduce gel coat rework plant wide.
• Develop a process to reduce print during the infusion process. This could include Epoxy or other lamination methods.
• Develop a new stringer/structural system for smaller boats.
• Develop a process to turn molds quicker.
Other Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Define and design component specifications for composite structures from design through manufacturing completion
• Generate Engineering models, drawings and Bills of Material for new designs.
• Generate Engineering change notices as required
• Evaluate and advise on the impact of the new product, programs, and strategies
• Ensure and acquire component and system compliance with industry standards
• Evaluate and test new composite structures for ISO and CE compliance based on industry equations for marine structural loading
• Coordinate with vendors on new products and materials
• Assist production with the integration of new model laminate structures and material updated to existing models
Qualifications
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related Technical Field
• At least two years of 3D CAD Modeling experience, preferably SolidWorks and Rhino
• At least two years of experience in composites and composite structure design, specifically with Fiberglass.
• At least two years of experience in reading, analyzing and interpreting complex technical documents
• Must be a creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image
• Must be a strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, decisive, good judgment and strong operational focus.
• Must be a well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player
• Able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
• A “Coach” who will share information as a mentor with the team
• Must have a quick response time to sensitive inquiries and concerns
