Position Title: Carpenter/Varnisher
Location: Harpswell, ME
Position Summary: Carpenter/Varnisher
Paint and varnish vessel exteriors, interiors and components using brush application methods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Hardware removal and re-installation on surfaces to be refinished.
Surface preparation to include stripping, sanding, masking, staining, priming and painting surfaces.
Apply coats of stain, varnish, or paints, as appropriate, to refinish and protect interior and exterior surfaces.
Knowledge of the application requirements for the products utilized.
Meet environmental requirements and best marina practices in acquisition, application, removal and disposal of paint, paint waste or residuals in accordance with OSHA requirement.
Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines.
Utilize hand and power tools.
Technical and Physical Requirements
Attention to detail and cleanliness required.
2-5 years’ experience preferred.
Previous experience with brush finish techniques preferred.
Ability to ascend and descend a ladder.
Ability to work in small spaces and from a kneeling position.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Minimum Soft Skills Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Ability to provide exceptional customer service and an understanding of customers’ needs.
Position Summary: Systems Tech
Systems Technicians troubleshoot, repair and install systems on boats ranging from 30-60’. These systems include: DC Electrical Charging & Distribution, AC Electrical, Engines, Generators, Water Makers, Navigation Electronics, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Heating, Communications and more.
Safe Harbor Great Island Systems Technicians will be trained through a combination of mentoring, ABYC courses and OEM Product Training to develop their knowledge of: maintenance procedures; installation application requirements and troubleshooting using both computer interfaces and diagnostic equipment such as multi-meters, refrigeration gauge sets, and product specific tooling.
Systems Technicians execute annual decommissioning and recommissioning procedures on the vessels stored at Safe Harbor Great Island. These procedures are IPad base and guide the technician through the process while capturing critical data for the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Execute boat commissioning and decommissioning procedures.
Utilize diagnostic equipment and Computer Interfaces to troubleshoot boat systems and components.
Repair, replace, and install new vessel systems and components.
Evaluate repair and installation jobs and prepare estimated for hours and materials.
Must possess own tools.
Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines.
Technical and Physical Requirements
Strong aptitude for understanding and repairing how mechanical / electrical devices.
Experience working with hand tools and fixing things
Technical School training preferred
Marine or Aircraft experience preferred
ABYC Certification will be required if not already achieved prior to hire
Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
Ability to work in small and tight spaces
Ability to lift 50 pounds
