Position Title: Boat carpenter

Compensation/Rate: $20/hr+ depending on experience

Location: Warrensburg, NY

Position Summary:

Boatbuilder/Restorer
Tumblehome Boatshop is seeking an experienced boatbuilder, or graduate of a boatbuilding program, to help with the restoration and construction of fine wooden boats. Applicant must be able to help with framing, planking, joinery and finishing. Knowledge of marine fasteners, adhesives, bedding compounds, and typical wood species used boatbuilding is essential. Knowledge of shop safety and tool use is essential.
Experience with metalworking and fabrication is a plus for us. Experience with systems and drive, both electric and internal combustion, antique and modern, also a plus.
Requirements
o Education in wooden boatbuilding and restoration, minimum 1 year program, or a minimum of 2 years experience in the trade of building and restoring wooden boats.
o Familiarity with a range of wooden boat construction, both traditional and modern methods. The more experience with a range of construction types, the better.
o The ability to work within a team is essential, learning our methods but also sharing knowledge.
o Applicant must communicate and work well with others.
o Applicant must be able to communicate well with our clients and public.
Tumblehome Boatshop is focused on the high end restoration and new construction of historic and classic wooden boats. The shop has won multiple awards for new boats as well as restoration of antique boats, and we work in a wide variety of boat type and boat construction, as well as boat size.
We’re located near Lake George NY, in the beautiful southern Adirondack mountains, across from the Hudson River. There’s fishing, hiking, cycling, skiing, and of course, boating, all nearby and all around us. We offer competitive pay and benefits.
