Position Title: Assistant Service Manager
Compensation/Rate: $60,000 - $80,000/yr
Location: Harpswell, ME
Position Summary:
Safe Harbor Great Island is looking to grow our world class service team with an Assistant Service Manager. This is a growth position for a hungry marine industry professional who would like the opportunity to grow into a service manager at one of the East Coast’s top service yards. We are looking for raw skills which can be developed into an essential team player. Knowledge and experience in boat handling and operation, or the technical end of boats with a seasoned tech looking to make a move into management are ideal candidates.
Our program is designed for you to work closely with our existing service managers and office staff to bring top notch service to our discerning customers. At Safe Harbor Great Island, we choose our customers and boats very carefully. We develop long term service relationships with the intent to work with the same customers and boats year after year. This approach fosters efficiency, familiarity and trust. Sets and meet ongoing goals of service department & marina. The Assistant Service Manager reports to the General Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Drafting customer update emails – detailing work progress.
Inspection of work – taking photos for updates and customer communication. Documenting work completed.
Quality control work – Ensuring work is 100% complete and the boat is presentable.
Research for estimates – looking over past jobs and finding material pricing to help Service managers complete detailed estimates.
Reviewing work orders – ensuring no detail has been missed.
Interfacing with customers – helping give that personal touch we are known for during customer pick ups and drop offs.
Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
Technical and Physical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical 2 years experience preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office
ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications a plus
Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Basic boat handling skills a plus
